Insurance and security deposit
Information about insurance coverage and the vehicle security deposit.
Included insurance
SOAP — Mandatory Personal Accident Insurance
Covers personal injury to third parties in the event of an accident. Required by law in Chile and included with all our vehicles.
Third-party liability insurance
Covers property damage caused to third parties (other vehicles, infrastructure) in an accident where the driver is at fault.
Vehicle damage insurance — $1.500.000 deductible
Covers damage to the rented vehicle, including the rooftop tent and rack. In the event of an incident, your maximum liability is the $1.500.000 deductible. Coverage includes:
- ✓Rooftop tent and rack
- ✓Gravel roads
- ✓Transport on barges and ferries
- ✓Argentina, with the border-crossing permit purchased
Vehicle security deposit
At pick-up you leave a security deposit of $1.200.000, in cash or by card (subject to availability). The amount is the same for all our vehicles and is refunded in full at the end of the rental if the vehicle is returned in the same condition.
What isn't covered?
- ✗Damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- ✗Damage caused by driving on beaches, riverbeds, deep mud or other places unfit for vehicle traffic
- ✗Damage caused by drivers not authorized in the rental agreement
- ✗Loss of or damage to personal belongings left in the vehicle
- ✗Damage caused by crossing into Argentina without the border-crossing permit
- ✗Damage to the tent from using or transporting it without following the instructions given at pick-up
