Effective as of January 2025
By making a booking on jbcampers.cl, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions in full.
1. Definitions
1.1. JB Campers is the trade name under which JB LIMITADA (RUT 78.427.278-8) offers rentals of pickup trucks equipped with a rooftop tent and related accessories for tourism and road trips in Chile.
1.2. Website means the portal available at jbcampers.cl, including its booking module at jbcampers.cl/reserva.
1.3. Renter means the individual or legal entity that books and contracts the rental service.
1.4. Authorized driver means any person expressly disclosed to and accepted by JB Campers to drive the vehicle during the rental period.
1.5. Vehicle includes the pickup truck, the rooftop tent, its ladder, mattress, accessories and any other equipment handed over at the start of the rental.
1.6. Individual rental agreement means the document that sets out, for each booking, the assigned vehicle, dates, pick-up and drop-off times, prices, coverage, any security deposit, applicable charges and other specific conditions.
2. Provider identity and acceptance
2.1. These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the website, bookings, and the rental of vehicles offered by JB Campers in Chile.
2.2. The provider's legal name, RUT (tax ID), registered address and other business identification details will be made available on the website, in the booking confirmation and/or in the individual rental agreement, in accordance with Chilean e-commerce regulations.
2.3. By making a booking online, the renter confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions and the cancellation policy in force at the time of booking.
2.4. Merely visiting the website places no obligation on the user. Consent is only deemed given when the renter unequivocally accepts the conditions offered and successfully completes the booking process.
3. Purpose of the service
3.1. JB Campers offers the temporary rental of pickup trucks equipped with a rooftop tent for tourism, recreation and road trips within Chile, subject to availability, renter verification and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
3.2. Operations are based in Osorno and Puerto Montt, Los Lagos Region, Chile.
3.3. JB Campers may offer pick-up and/or drop-off in other locations at an additional cost, subject to operational availability and prior confirmation.
4. Online bookings and formation of the contract
4.1. Bookings are requested through the website at jbcampers.cl/reserva.
4.2. Before payment, the website will clearly state the vehicle or category booked, the dates, what is included, the price in Chilean pesos, any applicable additional charges and the essential terms of the service.
4.3. Once the booking is completed, JB Campers will send a written confirmation to the email address provided by the renter.
4.4. The booking is subject to actual fleet availability, verification of the renter's details, and receipt of the corresponding payment under the chosen payment option.
4.5. If, for justified operational reasons, the specific vehicle booked cannot be provided, JB Campers may offer an equivalent or higher-category vehicle at no additional cost. If this is not possible or the renter does not accept the alternative, JB Campers will refund the amounts actually paid for that booking.
5. Prices, currency and payment methods
5.1. All prices are in Chilean pesos (CLP), including VAT (IVA). Amounts in US dollars (USD) shown on the website are for reference only; charges are always made in CLP.
5.2. JB Campers offers the following payment options:
- Partial payment: a down payment of 30% of the total price when booking, with the remaining balance paid at vehicle pick-up.
- Full payment: 100% of the total price when booking; a promotional discount may apply if expressly stated on the website.
5.3. Available payment methods may include Webpay Plus, Mercado Pago and bank transfer.
5.4. JB Campers does not store full payment card details. Card payments are processed by authorized third-party platforms.
5.5. If the renter chooses bank transfer, the booking will remain "pending payment". The renter must make the transfer and send the proof of payment within the deadline stated in the booking confirmation. If the payment or proof of payment is not received by that deadline, the booking will be cancelled automatically and the vehicle will become available again.
5.6. Rentals that reach the length stated on the website (for example, 7 or 14 days) receive an automatic long-stay discount, shown in the summary before payment. This discount cannot be combined with coupons: whichever is greater applies.
5.7. Pick-up and drop-off of the vehicle away from the Osorno office may carry a charge for each leg, depending on the location chosen. Some locations waive this charge for rentals of a certain length. The applicable charge is shown when choosing the location and in the booking summary. Delivery to other cities is quoted on a case-by-case basis.
6. Exclusion of the right of withdrawal
6.1. In accordance with Article 3 bis of Chilean Law No. 19,496, JB Campers excludes the right of withdrawal (derecho a retracto) for rental service bookings made online. This exclusion is disclosed to the consumer in advance, unequivocally and prominently before the booking is made.
6.2. The exclusion of the right of withdrawal is without prejudice to the Cancellation and Refund Policy set out in these Terms and Conditions, which constitutes the contractual regime applicable to cancellations requested by the renter.
7. Renter requirements and authorized drivers
7.1. At the time of pick-up and throughout the rental, the main driver must have:
- A minimum age of 23 years.
- A valid Chilean ID card (cédula), RUT or passport, as applicable.
- A valid driver's license, equivalent at least to a Chilean Class B license or a foreign equivalent recognized under Chilean law.
7.2. Only the renter and the drivers expressly authorized by JB Campers at the time of pick-up may drive the vehicle.
8. Pick-up, inspection and drop-off of the vehicle
8.1. The vehicle will be handed over with a handover report or record noting the general condition of the vehicle, rooftop tent and accessories, the fuel level, and the items provided.
8.2. The renter must inspect the vehicle at pick-up and report any observations before starting to use it.
8.3. The vehicle must be returned on the agreed date and time and at the agreed location. Late returns will incur the charge stated in the individual rental agreement and may result in additional charges if they affect subsequent bookings.
8.4. The vehicle is handed over with a full tank and must be returned full. If it is returned with less fuel, JB Campers will charge CLP $2,500 per missing liter, an amount that covers the fuel and the operational cost of refueling.
8.5. Normal cleaning of the vehicle is included in the price. If the vehicle is returned very dirty for any reason (mud inside, bad odors, smoke odor, excessive sand or food remains, among others), JB Campers will charge a special cleaning fee of CLP $60,000.
9. Permitted use of the vehicle
9.1. The vehicle must be used with due care, in accordance with its intended purpose, the manufacturer's manual, the instructions provided by JB Campers and Chilean traffic regulations.
9.2. The following are strictly prohibited:
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
- Allowing unauthorized persons to drive.
- Subletting, assigning or transferring the use of the vehicle to third parties.
- Crossing international borders without the prior written authorization of JB Campers.
- Driving on sandy beaches, riverbeds, flooded areas, deep mud, snow without suitable equipment, or any place unfit for vehicle traffic, unless authorized in writing in advance.
- Using the vehicle for racing, competitions, unauthorized towing, or paid passenger transport.
- Smoking inside the vehicle or the rooftop tent.
9.3. The renter will be responsible for any traffic violation, fine, unpaid toll or administrative penalty incurred while the vehicle is in their possession.
9.4. Mileage is unlimited: there is no daily or total kilometer limit.
9.5. All vehicles have a manual transmission. The renter declares that they know how to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission.
9.6. Crossing into Argentina is only permitted if the renter has added the "Argentina border-crossing permit" extra and requested it at least 7 days before pick-up, providing the details of all drivers. Without this permit, crossing the border is prohibited.
9.7. The renter may only stay overnight at campsites, designated areas and places where it is permitted. In national parks and reserves, the renter must respect the areas authorized by CONAF, and on private land must have the owner's permission. Any fines for staying overnight in places where it is not permitted are the renter's responsibility.
9.8. Ferry and barge tickets are not included in the price. Booking and paying for them is the renter's responsibility.
10. Use of the rooftop tent and camper equipment
10.1. The rooftop tent is part of the rented vehicle and must be used solely in accordance with the instructions of JB Campers and the manufacturer.
10.2. Before setting off, the renter must check that the tent, ladder, latches, straps and accessories are fully closed, secured and in travel position.
10.3. The renter will be liable for damage to the tent and its accessories resulting from improper use, negligence, impacts, driving with the tent open or not properly closed, or failure to follow instructions.
11. Insurance, accidents and incidents
11.1. The vehicles have current SOAP (Chile's mandatory personal accident insurance), third-party liability insurance and vehicle damage insurance with a deductible of $1.500.000 per incident. Coverage includes the rooftop tent and rack, driving on gravel roads, transport on ferries, and Argentina when the border-crossing permit has been purchased. Details of coverage and exclusions are set out in the individual rental agreement.
11.2. In the event of an accident, damage, theft or any other incident, the renter must: (a) stop and take reasonable safety measures; (b) seek emergency care if anyone is injured; (c) report the incident to Carabineros de Chile (the Chilean police); (d) photograph the scene and take down the details of any third parties involved; (e) notify JB Campers immediately through the contact channel provided at pick-up; (f) cooperate with JB Campers and the insurer in handling the claim.
11.3. Failure to follow the above protocol may affect insurance coverage and make the renter liable for any resulting losses.
12. Liability for damage and additional charges
12.1. The renter is liable for any damage, loss, missing items and deterioration not covered by insurance, particularly where these result from willful misconduct, fault, recklessness, driving under the influence, use on unsuitable terrain, failure to follow instructions, or driving by unauthorized persons.
12.2. JB Campers may charge the renter for the cost of repairs, replacement, transport, recovery, special cleaning, loss of income while the vehicle is out of service, fines, unpaid tolls and missing accessories attributable to the renter.
13. Mechanical failures and assistance
13.1. If the vehicle suffers a mechanical failure not attributable to the renter, JB Campers will arrange roadside assistance, repair, or replacement with an equivalent or higher-category vehicle, subject to availability.
13.2. If a failure not attributable to the renter makes it materially impossible to continue the trip and JB Campers cannot offer a reasonable solution in a timely manner, the renter will be entitled to a pro-rata refund for the unused period.
14. Cancellations, changes and no-shows
14.1. Cancellations must be requested in writing to the contact email address provided by JB Campers.
14.2. The applicable refund policy is set out in the "Cancellation and Refund Policy" section at the end of this document, which forms an integral part of these Terms and Conditions. You can also view it at jbcampers.cl/en/politica-de-cancelacion.
14.3. If the renter does not show up for pick-up without prior notice accepted by JB Campers (no-show), no refund will be given.
15. Privacy and personal data
15.1. JB Campers will process the renter's personal data in accordance with Chilean Law No. 19,628 on the protection of privacy and its current amendments.
15.2. JB Campers may collect and process: name, RUT or passport number, email address, phone number, address, driver's license, booking information and rental history. This data will be processed to manage bookings, payments, confirmations, pick-ups and drop-offs; to verify identity and driving requirements; and to comply with contractual, tax and legal obligations.
15.3. JB Campers does not store full payment card details.
15.4. Data subjects may request information about their data, as well as its correction or deletion, by writing to reservas@jbrentacar.cl.
